There are different techniques of prosthetic breast reconstruction, either with implants or tissue expanders, followed by silicone, drop-shaped or anatomical implants.
When there is enough skin in the breast to rebuild, a breast prosthesis can be used, comprising a silicone shell and filled with silicone gel or saline.
The prosthesis is placed under the pectoral muscle, to prevent it from being close to the skin and from movement.
